An Afternoon at Knockranny House Hotel

How many more blogs will I do about Afternoon Tea? The limit does not exist (10 points if you know what movie that's from). There's just nothing like Afternoon Tea - it makes me feel fabulous and it really is such a treat.

My mum and I were recently invited along to have Afternoon Tea at the 4 star Knockranny House Hotel in Westport, which was very kind of them. We put our glad rags on and headed for Westport. The weather was beautiful that day and Westport looked stunning, it's such a pretty place. We were greeted at Knockranny House Hotel and seated in a gorgeous room overlooking Croagh Patrick, the views were just amazing. It's the perfect setting for Afternoon Tea and makes it that bit more special.

The hotel were very happy to accommodate me as a vegetarian and after a short wait our feast came out. I sipped on Prosecco and hot chocolate (I'm not a big tea or coffee fan so this was a lovely change) while mum enjoyed tea, and we tried to decide what tantalising treat to taste first. Everything was beautifully presented and looked mouthwatering. I decided to go sweet first and tried an amazing chocolate-y, nutty slice which was divine. Next I tried the sandwiches - avocado, cheese and egg mayonnaise for me, chicken, ham and salmon for mum. The sandwiches were served on delicious soda bread and were all scrumptious.

I have to say, the desserts were incredible. We enjoyed carrot cake, scones, coconut lemon mini cupcakes, chocolate mousse cake, the chocolate nut bites, madeira cake, meringue and cheesecake. Every bite was bliss, I could've eaten the lot twice over! We chatted and ate whilst looking out at the mountain, and it was such a relaxing way to spend the afternoon.

If you're looking for Afternoon Tea for a special occasion definitely look into Knockranny House Hotel  - it's certainly a treat! Thanks to Knockranny House Hotel for such a wonderful afternoon. Find them on Facebook here. Read my mum's great blog about the Afternoon Tea here.
